Residential Child and Youth Care Professional
The Residential Child and Youth Care Professional course will help you improve your skills as a youth care professional. The content you will learn in this course includes; how to develop a culture of care using a competency-based philosophy, how to increase your understanding of how children learn and develop, new ways to nurture and maintain relationships with youth, and new methods to help youth change specific behaviors.

Adolescent Suicide
As clinicians, one of our responsibilities is to help maintain the safety and well being of our clients. When one of our clients tells us through words or behavior that she/he is thinking about or planning to harm her/himself, it is important that we take these threats seriously. In 2008, suicide was the third leading cause of death among youth 15-24 years of age. This course identifies warning signs, high risk youth, suicide assessment and resources for acquiring assistance.

Valuing Diversity in the Workplace
This course highlights the importance of recognizing and valuing diversity in the workplace. The differences and similarities that we share with our colleagues contribute to the successes and difficulties we experience. The key to valuing differences is to be appropriate about recognizing them so that they don’t hold us back from performing at the highest level possible.

Pandemic Influenza Preparedness
This course help agencies prepare for the current influenza emergency by; providing pertinent information about the H1N1 virus (Swine Flu), providing information on preventing an outbreak at your agency, helping you learn how to respond to an outbreak at your agency, and assisting you in learning practical ways to prepare your agency for an outbreak.

E-Learning courses are free to staff of FYSB funded Runaway and Homeless Youth Programs. Just register, and once you receive your registration confirmation you may get started taking courses.
