About Us
The Runaway and Homeless Youth Training Center, through a cooperative agreement with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB), provides training and conferences to RHY Basic Center, Street Outreach, Transitional Living, and Maternity Group Home grantees based on FYSB and grantee needs.
Mission
To enhance and promote the continuous quality improvement of the services provided by RHY grantees through high quality, capacity building training and conferences based on FYSB and RHY grantee needs.
Goals
- Update FYSB and the RHY field on the programmatic and training needs of RHY grantees, relevant research in youth development, RHY findings, products, curricula, models and experts.
- Build the capacity of TLP grantees to deliver effective transitional living services by increasing their awareness of current issues and trends within the field of youth homelessness and transitional living through the design and coordination of an annual National Transitional Living Program Meeting.
- Build the capacity of RHY grantees to deliver effective services and programs by increasing their knowledge of the best practices among RHY grantees in Basic Center, Street Outreach, and Transitional Living and current FYSB priorities through the design and coordination of an annual National Runaway and Homeless Youth Conference.
- Increase the competency level of youth workers in Basic Center, Street Outreach and Transitional Living Programs in targeted core competency areas to effectively work with runaway, homeless and street youth and their families through distance learning courses.
- Build the capacity of RHY grantees to effectively provide programs and services to runaway, homeless and street youth and their families through the delivery of intense, skill-based training.
